Kaspersky Lab expert says Wi-Fi users vulnerable on global scale

MOSCOW, Oct 17 (PRIME) -- Wi-Fi networks may be unsafe for users all around the globe due to hacking of security protocol WPA2, Vladimir Kuskov, an antivirus expert at Russian antivirus software Kaspersky Lab, said late on Monday.

“Hacking of protocol WPA2 did take place that could be potentially dangerous for all Wi-Fi users in the world,” Kuskov said.

Earlier, Belgian expert Mathy Vanhoef detected vulnerability in the wireless protocol and said that any device supporting Wi-Fi can be attacked by hackers.

Kuskov recommends users to update software, install protection programs, and use virtual private network (VPN) services.
